FAQs
Why can’t I find something in your Shop? Why is the Category page blank?
This website, much like life, is an ongoing work in progress, as is the whole Stable Labels business. I have been working on new products, and will be rolling these out and adding them to the website over the coming weeks and months.
If you have seen something that you are interested in, but it’s not in the shop currently, please feel free to complete a Bespoke Request Form and I may be able to make it for you early.
How durable is the special effect vinyl??
With most standard vinyl, the colour runs throughout, not just on the top. The vinyl with special effects such as holographic, has the effect laid over the top of the vinyl. Because of this, it is possible that with heavy wear and tear, the special effect may begin to ‘rub off’ over time.
In my testing, the only special effect vinyl that has begin to fade/rub off, is that on the side of my headcollars. Everything else still looks like new, despite daily use. The headcollars are worn 12 hours a day in the field in all weathers, on two ponies that love to throw themselves on the ground for a good roll, making sure they grind their heads into the mud for good measure. The headcollars are washed and scrubbed every day, often being left to soak overnight. The vinyl therefore gets quite a battering and eventually shows signs of this damage.
I would expect, under normal usage, that this damage would not occur. If your vinyl will be placed where it may be subject to particularly heavy wear and tear, it may be better to opt for a plain colour.
What’s the difference between all the various tags?
The BioThane types for the tags have been carefully chosen for their specific qualities, however any tag could be used for any purpose.
The black Superflex has been chosen for the headcollar tags as it is incredibly thin and flexible, so if your horse has the headcollar left on in the field, the tag will not rub or dig in at all, even when they are rolling and grinding their head into the mud!
The rug tags are made from 16mm BioThane Beta, which is big enough for a name/rug size to be added, but small enough to be unobtrusive when the rug is being worn. The pastel colours allow the tag to stand out and be easily seen when someone is looking for the right weight of rug to put on.
The saddle emergency tags are made from neon pink Superflex, which is very bright and stands out well against a traditional brown or black saddle. This Superflex is also very thin, so the tag shouldn’t dig into your leg at all when riding.
The Show tags are of either neon pink or the slightly wider neon yellow Superflex, with the yellow allowing a second row of text to be added, enabling more information to be included.
Do you sell labels and designs for clothing?
Yes, I do. I have some of my own designs, or if you wish I can put your own design onto vinyl.
I can supply either just the finished vinyl for you to apply to your clothing yourself, or I can supply the clothing from a limited range and apply the vinyl for you.
If you have your own design that you want me to apply to your own clothing choice, please complete the Bespoke Request Form and we can discuss your requirements.
Note that I will not apply vinyl to high-value clothing.
How sticky are the stickers?
The stickers are made from Permanent Adhesive Vinyl, and are very sticky!
However, the surface that the stickers are applied to will make a big difference in how well the stickers stay stuck, as will the way that they are applied.
For best results, apply to a smooth, hard surface such as plastic or glass, without any ridges or texture. The surface should be clean and dry before application. If there is dirt on the surface, the sticker will stick to the dirt, and when the dirt falls off, so will your sticker!
If the stickers are applied correctly, to a good surface, they should last through any weather, for many years.
I’d like to order something but not in the colours you offer, can I do this?
Almost certainly! Vinyl is available in a huge range of almost every colour you can think of, and BioThane is available in over 50 colours. Please choose the ‘Custom’ option when choosing your colours, fill in the form and we can discuss your requirements.
How do I apply the stickers?
The most important thing is to ensure the surface is clean and dry.
For one-piece stickers, peel from the backing and place in position, then smooth the sticker out from the centre to the edges, to eliminate any air bubbles.
For multiple piece stickers, such as names, they are supplied with transfer tape already applied over the top. Carefully remove the backing from the vinyl, so that the vinyl is stuck to the transfer tape at the front. Place in position, the smooth the stickers down firmly. Then very carefully peel the transfer tape away from the vinyl. If any vinyl lifts from the surface, put the transfer tape back and smooth the sticker onto the surface some more.
Can I return my item if I don’t like it?
I have a 30-day Returns Policy, which means you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return.
Please note that personalised products are excluded from this policy and are also exempt from the 14-day ‘cooling-off period’ under the Consumer Contracts Regulations. Any product on this website that requires a form to be completed before purchase will be considered to be a personalised product.
Do you sell children’s clothing?
No, I do not. There are additional regulations and labelling requirements when selling items for children, and as my main focus is making equipment for use around the stable yard, it’s not something I wish to pursue at this time.
I will happily sell HTV labels if you wish to apply them to items yourself, but I will not personally apply labels to children's items, nor sell any children’s items.
What’s the difference between all the various stickers?
Only that they are different sizes. They are all made from the same permanent vinyl. The names of the stickers are just to give an indication of a typical use for that size, but all sizes of stickers can be used on anything.
The exact size of the label will depend on the length of the name; each item can have up to 7 characters. For names with more than 7 characters, please purchase two (or more) items.
Tool Stickers: approximately 1 inch high
Bucket Stickers: approximately 2 inches high
Wheely Stickers: approximately 4 inches high
Stable Wall Stickers: approximately 9 inches high
How soon will I receive my order?
As all of my products are handmade to order I have no stock of ‘ready-made’ products that can be simply packaged up and posted the same day.
All orders will instead be crafted and finished as soon as I can, which will usually be the weekend after you order. Most orders will therefore be sent out on Mondays via Royal Mail Tracked 24, and so should be received on Tuesday or Wednesday (depending on your local postal service!).
For custom items, or where I am low on stock of the required materials/hardware, there may be a delay whilst I await delivery from my supplier in the Netherlands. If this is the case, or if there is any other reason that this timescale is unlikely to be met, I will endeavour to let you know as soon as possible after receiving your order.
Further shipping information can be found in the Shipping Policy.
What’s the difference between the feed bucket stickers and the fly mask names?
The feed bucket stickers are made of Permanent Adhesive Vinyl, and can simply be peeled off the backing paper and applied onto to any hard surface (the smoother the better for optimum stickability).
Because fabric items such as fly masks are very soft, normal stickers will not adhere to them properly and will soon fall off. To ensure that your label lasts a long time, I use a Heat Transfer Vinyl(HTV) where a heat press is used to ‘activate’ the adhesive and firmly adhere the label to the fabric. Once it is cooled, the backing is removed and the label, when subject to normal wear and tear, will now stay put for a very long time.
In short:
Stickers are for smooth, hard surfaces such as plastic, metal and glass
HTV labels are for softer materials such as clothing, other fabrics and BioThane
How are the HTV labels applied?
You have three options:
You can buy just the actual label, if you are happy to apply it to your material yourself (they can be applied using a domestic iron, although a heat press will give better and longer lasting results). Instructions will be provided with the label.
If the item is one that I offer for sale e.g. feed cover, the item will include the label, which I will apply for you before sending.
If you want the label for a specific item but do not want to apply the label yourself, I can purchase the item on your behalf, and apply the label for you before sending. For this bespoke option, payment will be through invoice and bank transfer, not via this website.
